Did you know that you have the possibility of receiving carrier allowance?
The Public Health Agency’s rules state that; “If you are not allowed to work because you are infected or may be infected with a generally dangerous disease, you can receive carrier allowance. You may also be entitled to compensation for travel that you need to make, for example in connection with medical examinations. ” COVID.19 is considered a generally dangerous disease.
The right to receive carrier allowance applies to:
- Individuals with Individual Company
- Persons who have Aktiebolag
- For job seekers
Physician’s Relationship Order
If a doctor has given you a restraining order not to go to the workplace because you are or may be infected with COVID-19, you have the right to apply for carrier compensation.

Carrier allowance for those who are not allowed to work
If you can work but do not get it at risk of infecting others. Then you are entitled to carrier allowance. The carrier allowance is 80% of your salary and a maximum of SEK 810 per day. Carrier allowance has no qualifying days, so the compensation applies from the first day.
Sick pay and sickness benefit apply if you are ill
If you are ill and unable to work, then you are instead entitled to sick pay from your employer or sick pay from the Swedish Social Insurance Agency.
Travel Compensation for Carriers
If you have been infected with COVID-19 or can be assumed to have been infected, you have the right to receive compensation for the trips you make. For example, to come to us for proof and certificate. Remember to save receipts for your travel expenses and the receipts that show that the trips were for what is classified as a general dangerous disease or COVID-19.
